On Saturday, 8 August, a group of students from Masaryk University’s University of the Third Age astronomy course will travel to Spain to observe a solar eclipse. The group will be accompanied by staff from the Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics of the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University.
The expedition was organized by Associate Professor Miloslav Zejda with the support of the travel agency Delfín Travel. All participants are covering the costs of the trip themselves. In addition to observing the total solar eclipse on 12 August, the itinerary includes visits to a number of cultural and natural landmarks, such as the Sagrada Família in Barcelona, the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, the historic sites of Zaragoza, and the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.
Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Homola and recent PhD graduate František Zažímal discuss their research on the use of plasma technologies and nanomaterials for wastewater treatment. Bachelor’s student Viktória Ivic achieved an excellent result at the 16th Czech-Slovak Student Scientific Conference in Physics, held at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. She was awarded third place in the Applied Physics section, recognizing the high quality of her research work at the undergraduate level. The conference brings together talented students from the Czech Republic and Slovakia and provides a platform for presenting and discussing research across various fields of physics.
