13. 12. 2017 Prof. Thomas Fromherz (JKU Linz) Talk title: SiGe Quantum dots as CMOS compatible, scalable quantum optical sources in the telecom wavelength region? Abstract: The development of Si based, integrated quantum optical circuits has shown tremendous progress in recent years. However, the generation of photonic quantum states still relies on external lasers as sources for probabilistic generation of single photons by non-linear processes like spontaneous four wave mixing. On the other hand, III-V quantum dots have been shown to be almost idealĀ  on-demand single photon sources. In my presentation I will show someĀ  recent results on our attempts to develop SiGe quantum dots into single photon sources by increasing the radiative exciton recombination rate employing photonic and defect engineering.
