The Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics invites you to the department seminary:

Dr. Mariya Lyubenova: ESO Expanding Horizons: Shaping the Future of European Astronomy Beyond 2040

Dr. Mariya Lyubenova from the European Southern Observatory is the head of Media Relations and Scientific & Public Affairs Advisor to the Department of Communication and Editor of The Messenger. Dr. Lyubenova will present ESO’s Expanding Horizons – a community-driven strategic initiative defining ESO’s long-term vision and the next generation of large-scale astronomical facilities beyond 2040.

As part of this process, ESO has opened a Call for White Papers inviting the community to contribute ideas that will help shape the scientific priorities and technological directions of European astronomy in the decades to come. Several projects currently being widely discussed include:

• Time Domain Telescope
• ALMA 2040
• World Space Telescope (WST)
• Kilometer Baseline Interferometry

This is a great opportunity to learn more about ESO’s future directions and to explore how Czech institutions can take part.
