The last weekend in October belonged to the Student Physics Seminar 2023. The seminar aims to transfer experiences between students of different years. First-year students learned how things work in physics studies at MU, how to choose a bachelor thesis, what courses to take, or how to study abroad. The involvement of junior students in the community of senior physics students is the basis of a friendly atmosphere between students in all three physics departments.
The Student Physics Lectures F9878 was held on the weekend 27 to 29 October 2023. From Friday afternoon until Sunday noon, organizers packed the program with lectures, discussions, and entertainment. F9878 Student Physics Lectures is an elective course at the Faculty of Science at MU in the fall semester and a special weekend event for young scientists and experienced students to meet new students. The entire event aims to bring students across various physics majors together.
Fifty-eight students attended this year's event. Senior and experienced students assisted six organizers from all three physics departments. This year, the F9878 Student Physics Lectures was held at the library of the Faculty of Science at the Kotlářská 2 campus. The event will be at an off-site venue next year, as last year.
The poster session, introduced last year, was a great success. Students could learn about the real-life research of their senior colleagues while debating science and studies. The "physics cook-off" was a new event where students worked collectively on lunch preparation. The most fun part was the Pub Quiz, a science-fun group game entertaining everyone involved.

Our PhD student František Zažímal shared his research at the IWA Water Development Congress 2025 in Bangkok, introducing a novel approach that combines low-temperature plasma and graphitic carbon nitride nanoflakes to improve pharmaceutical removal from wastewater. His work contributes to sustainable water treatment and builds on his achievements as a mentor to award-winning student Anna Podmanická.
