Dean Prof. Tomáš Kašparovský awarded three students/graduates of physics study programs with the Dean's Award for the academic year 2024/2025. Information about the award ceremony and a list of all awarded students can be found here.
Mgr. Lucia Švandová is a recent graduate of the Master's degree program in Physics, specializing in Plasma Physics and Nanotechnology. She received the 2025 Dean’s Award from the Faculty of Science in the category of Best Master's Student. In her thesis, she focused on Improving the surface properties of advanced materials using atmospheric plasma for applications in green energy. During her studies, she completed a one-year internship at the prestigious Université Laval in Canada, where she further developed her expertise and research skills. Lucia has been actively involved in science outreach, bringing physics closer to the public through various popularization events. In recent years, she has also become one of the faces of the Faculty of Science.
Mgr. Roman Přibyl, Ph.D., is also a recent graduate, but of the doctoral study program in Physics, specializing in Plasma Physics. He received the 2025 Dean’s Award from the Faculty of Science in the category of Best Doctoral Student. His dissertation, PECVD Deposition of Thin Films and Study of Material Influence on Plasma Parameters, focuses on the preparation of thin films using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. He contributed to the development of a new PECVD chamber with dimensions close to industrial standards. He created and studied thin films with various properties, including antibacterial coatings. In the field of dielectric barrier discharges, he demonstrated that even slight doping of alumina-based ceramics significantly affects plasma behavior.
