November 30th, 2022 - 16:00 -17:30 - Ph.D. seminar - Ph.D. grant landscape and beyond - The nature of aspiring researchers’ involvement in the world of grant funding is different. They should actively seek opportunities to get engaged in grant activities of their mentors, or other senior researchers, both at the stage of grant proposal preparation and project implementation. Getting familiar with grant agenda should be an essential part of Ph.D. education, especially for those who want to pursue an academic career, but also for those aspiring to a career outside academia. Tips and tricks and approaches to getting our students‘ brains working and test how technology can help us achieve this will be discussed.
December 2nd, 2022 - 9:00 – 13:00 - Effective counselling of closing theses - How to be effective during the consultation? How to give proper feedback to the student so it will improve the student's work and skill?
December 8th, 2022 - 16:00—18:30 - Microskills workshop: How to react to problematic situations during class - Some teaching skills can be gained only through experience. Let's practice some problematic situations with students and how to react to them.
December 13th, 2022 - 9:00 – 13:30 - How to take care of your well-being? - What can you do for your well-being, and how do you keep yourself balanced? The topics about work and private life and their balance will be discussed.
December 15th and 16th, 2022 - 8:30 – 16:00 - Professional seniority - How to deal with challenges not only in the academic environment to be professional content? The topics of motivation, changes, professional plans, work-life balance, ability to say NO, and burnout syndrome will be discussed.
The Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications Research Group at DPPT and CEPLANT welcomes its new colleague, Ing. Lenka Vítková, Ph.D. She will join the team in composite materials research and also bring her expertise in the field of natural polymers.
Dr. Jiří Vohánka from the Optics for Thin Films and Solid Surfaces research group spent February 2026 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF) in Jena. Working with the Functional Surfaces and Coatings team, he focused on light‑scattering phenomena and their use in advanced thin‑film characterization. The stay was supported by the COLOSSE consortium, strengthening international collaboration and bringing new expertise back to the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology and CEPLANT.
