The Open Day 2023 at the Faculty of Science MU was held on Saturday, 23 September. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., there was a program for those interested in our study offer and a joint stand of all physics departments.
The Open Day is a traditional event held at the beginning of the autumn semester, prepared exclusively by students. Visitors, high-schoolers, could learn about the study of physics, nanotechnology, biophysics, teaching, and other physics-related fields directly from students who are already studying these fields. Our students introduced the study options and the research of the individual physics departments. For those interested, there was a guided tour through selected laboratories, such as the thin film magnetron sputtering laboratories. Various small but interesting demonstrations and experiments from the world of physics accompanied the whole program.

Our PhD student František Zažímal shared his research at the IWA Water Development Congress 2025 in Bangkok, introducing a novel approach that combines low-temperature plasma and graphitic carbon nitride nanoflakes to improve pharmaceutical removal from wastewater. His work contributes to sustainable water treatment and builds on his achievements as a mentor to award-winning student Anna Podmanická.
