The Festival of Science & Technology 2023 was held at the Brno Exhibition Centre from Friday 8 September to Sunday 10 September 2023. Around 10,000 visitors had the opportunity to sneak a peek into the attractive world of science, technology and history. All three physics institutes of Masaryk University presented their programme to the visitors.
Around ten thousand visitors attended this year's Science & Technology Festival 2023. The event was organized by the Brno Observatory and Planetarium with the support of the Statutory City of Brno and the South Moravian Region.
All three physics department participated in the festival and presented interesting facts from the world of physics to the visitors. There were demonstrations of light polarization, 3D electron microscope images, quizzes, water rocket launching, sun observation, demonstrations of electrical discharges in gases and the power of low pressure. More than fifteen organizers from physics students and staff provided engaging explanations throughout the three days of the festival. Physics is attractive to young and old alike. We will be attending the event again next year. You can already look forward to the next Science Festival from 6-8 September 2024.

Our PhD student František Zažímal shared his research at the IWA Water Development Congress 2025 in Bangkok, introducing a novel approach that combines low-temperature plasma and graphitic carbon nitride nanoflakes to improve pharmaceutical removal from wastewater. His work contributes to sustainable water treatment and builds on his achievements as a mentor to award-winning student Anna Podmanická.
