In 2021, researchers from the Department of Physical Electronics published 45 articles in scientific journals of Q1 and Q2 indexes. In the last three years, there were 168 such publications. Publishing activity in 2021 included 13 applied outcomes, such as certified technologies or other outcomes put into operation. In the last three years, there were 34 applied outcomes.
In February, an analysis of the publishing activity of the Department of Physical Electronics was done following the evaluation of academic workers EVAK and evaluation of research groups. We bring you the results. Data were collected from the Publications app in IS MUNI. Categories J – an article in a scientific paper and subcategories of applied outcomes (P – a patent, H – an outcome implemented by the provider, Z - a pilot plant, a certified technology, a variety, a breed, G –a prototype, a working sample, F – a legally protected outcome) were used for evaluation.
Publications are evaluated by a Q index that asses the prestige of a journal among others in the same scientific field. For example, a quartile Q1 value denotes a prestigious journal rating among the top 25% of the journals in the same field.
In 2021, scientists from DPE published 45 papers in specialized journals of Q1 and Q2 indexes. The overall number of published scientific papers was 50. Publishing activity in 2021 included 13 applied outcomes, such as certified technologies or other outcomes put into operation.
Publishing activity of DPE within three years illustrates better the scientific research in the department. One-year data do not accurately interpret the publishing activities of any research group. One has to reflect a timeline of scientific research on different projects and a length of publication processes.
In the last three years, researchers at DPE published 168 papers in Q1 and Q2 journals and had 34 various applied outcomes. A comparison between Q indexes of published articles for the last three years is plotted in an accompanying graph. A shift in the quality of published papers can be seen. From 2020, the vast majority of published articles were in Q1 and Q2 quartile journals. Some articles can be even ranked in decile D10. These are publications in the most prestigious journals, among the top 10% of journals in the field. The values of the Q index were taken from the Web of Science.
Let us mention that in recent years, monitoring the quality of scientific articles in the form of Q1 and Q2 indexes is important. Individual research organizations are being institutionally funded using Methodology M17+ on said quality of published articles and outcomes.
DPE administration
At the beginning of April, the Day with ERC, an event for junior researchers took place. The aim of the discussion meeting for junior scientists is networking. Dr. Jakub Kelar from the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology was nominated as a representative from the Faculty of Science.
Since April 2024 for the next three years, CEPLANT center will lead the project COLOSSE funded by the Pathways to Synergies Call 2023 (Horizon Europe). COLOSSE connects Czech and Slovak research facilities in plasma-enabled surface engineering and boosts their potential for Horizon Europe and future EU R&I programs.
