This year's F9878 Student Physics Seminar again offered students insight into how physics works here in Brno, what research are being done, how to choose an undergraduate or graduate thesis, what courses to take, how to travel during the studies, and many other useful things.
The Student Physics Lectures F9878 was held on the weekend 11 to 13 October 2024. From Friday afternoon until Sunday noon, organizers traditionally packed the program with lectures, discussions, and entertainment. F9878 Student Physics Lectures is an elective course at the Faculty of Science at MU in the fall semester and a special weekend event for young scientists and experienced students to meet new students. The entire event aims to bring students across various physics majors together.
Forty-nine students attended this year's event. Senior and experienced students assisted six organizers from all three physics departments. This year, the F9878 Student Physics Lectures was held again at the library of the Faculty of Science at the Kotlářská 2 campus. T
The poster session was a great success. Students could learn about the real-life research of their senior colleagues while debating science and studies. For more information about the event look here.

Our PhD student František Zažímal shared his research at the IWA Water Development Congress 2025 in Bangkok, introducing a novel approach that combines low-temperature plasma and graphitic carbon nitride nanoflakes to improve pharmaceutical removal from wastewater. His work contributes to sustainable water treatment and builds on his achievements as a mentor to award-winning student Anna Podmanická.
